First ever tournament for The Dragons!!

GRANLEY ROVERS YOUTH FC
Annual 6-a-side Tournament
Sunday 29th May 2005

24 teams entered in this years Under 8’s tournament. They were divided into 4 groups as follows:

Group A: Baddesley Park Saints, Wyvern Blues, Eastleigh FC, Hamble Youth, Bashley ‘A’, Hedge End Rangers.
Group B: Totton Rangers, St Francis Rangers, Oakwood ‘A’, Pace Pumas, Sarisbury Sparks, Townhill Emporers.
Group C: Itchen Royals, Granley Rovers, Bashley ‘B’, Pace FC, Wyvern Reds, Warsash Wasps.
Group D: Bashley ‘C’, Oakwood ‘B’, Tadburn Youth, Sarisbury Sparks Black, St Francis Rangers, Hiltingbury.

The top team from each group qualify for the semi-final.

We had a a full squad of 7 players to choose from for this tournament.

Baddesley Park Saints 1 Wyvern 0
The first game kicked off at 9:00am and we were unluckly to lose our first ever game by the only goal. Lewis was in goal, Andrew & Jordan in defence, Daniel L & Ben in midfield with Dan W up front.

Wyvern 0 Eastleigh 2
Never really got going in this game. Seemed to be defending most of the game and did well to keep the score down against the eventual winners of the group. Lewis was in goal, Andrew & Jordan in defence, Daniel L & Ben in midfield with Jack up front.

Hamble 1 Wyvern 0
Another single goal defeat. Again, our attack did not give Hamble much to worry about. Lewis was in goal, Jordan & Jack in defence, Daniel L & Ben in midfield with Dan W up front.

Wyvern 0 Bashley ‘A’ 2
A narrow defeat considering Bashley ‘A’ are a good side and finished 2nd in the group. Lewis was in goal, Andrew & Jack in defence, Daniel L & Ben in midfield with Dan W up front.

Hedge End Tigers 3 Wyvern 2
Time for a change. Needing more creativity on the pitch, Jordan was put in goal and Lewis played up front. Things didn’t go to plan to start with as Hedge End built up a 3-0 halt-time lead. In the second half things were different, we scored twice and in the end were unlucky not to equalize.

Our first ever tournament found us a bit out of our depth. All of these teams have a years start on our squad. They have set plays for corners, free kicks and goal kicks. Due to the short time we’ve been together, we have not.
