Before the match the Wyvern players felt confident for the match ahead of them. The only doubt was the pitch terrain not being the best with some loose grass, but the team kept their heads up though and played brilliantly throughout the game.

When the match started, the home team went straight on top, scoring a goal from the edge of the box from a corner. Wyvern started the game back up again with Arran taking the centre kick. After the first ten minutes, we were fully on top of the other team creating many chances. A goal finally came for the away side with a ball in from Arran which found Hayden slotting the ball into the net! The whistle blew for half time and the team went over to Matt for the team talk.

Wyvern ran back onto the pitch to start the second half. After around five minutes of the second half starting, Leon put a cracking ball into Fin who toe poked it into the back of the net. 2-1 to Wyvern! We got a third when Arran collected the ball in the middle of the park and got it away to Fin who collected the ball, took it into the box and shot the ball into the corner of the goal! Due to the two goal lead, the team got a bit overconfident letting the Chamberlayne side score from outside of the box past Jude.

Jude didn’t want to concede any more goals, so he pulled off a spectacular diving save tapping the ball onto the post. A quick attack from Wyvern found Charlie taking a penalty which unfortunately went inches wide of the post. As Wyvern's hopes started to fall the home team got awarded a corner. We pulled many players back but couldn’t keep the ball out of the net as they scrambled it past Jude. The tension was building, as there was only a couple of minutes left and the Wyvern substitutes were urging on their team to get a late winner. Hope came when Charlie won the ball at the halfway line and ran through the players towards the goal before slotting the ball into the bottom corner. The fans went wild! All was not done though, as the other team were still pushing our defence, but we coped well clearing the ball up the pitch continuously.

After a long minute of strong defending the whistle sounded and Wyvern had won! We shook the other teams’ hands and went over to Matt to hear the end of match talk.

It was a very entertaining match for the Wyvern supporters and the players were happy for another victory. Wyvern can’t wait for their next match against St Francis when they hope that their form continues.
